Jog-a-thon!:  This year’s McCornack Jog-a-thon was held on Friday, November 1st! Our goal is to raise $10,000!  Please reach out to relatives, friends, customers, bosses, anyone who loves our kids! We are still accepting donations!! If you do not want to pay online, you can pay with cash, cards and checks in the front office :-)

Picture Day ORDERING:  Picture Day was October 18th.  Picture retake day is November 14th. This year, McCornack is using Jostens for school pictures.  All ordering is done through their website. You can view your images at JOSTENSPIX.COM  - Use event code: FE297224 to order pictures. Click HERE to view the flyer. Please call the front office to request your student’s ID #.


**If you need assistance ordering pictures online, please contact our office at 541-790-5800.  We can help families navigate the website.


BEST Fall Family Night (for families with students in BEST): Come see what your child is doing after school! Join your child at BEST on November 7 at 4:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided by a wonderful local restaurant and your family can participate in enrichment activities.


McCornack’s PTO Corner: The next PTO meeting will be held on November 5th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Dinner will be served from 6:00-6:30.  Please enter near the Family Resource Center (double doors) on the small playground (on Brittany St).  Please join us as we discuss:


For the Love of Reading: How to Support Your New Reader at Home. Barb Willoughby will share tips and strategies to nurture a love of reading in young children. Don't miss this insightful session to help boost your child's reading confidence and joy!


Are you interested in volunteering as a classroom support parent?  McCornack’s PTO is looking for parents and guardians to help with: 

  • Assisting teachers in organizing and coordinating classroom events (holiday parties, end-of-year celebrations, etc.).

  • Gathering donations or supplies for special projects.

  • Coordinating volunteers for classroom activities like reading helpers, art projects, or field trips.

Family Resource Corner:  My name is Sophia Durant.  I would like to introduce myself.  I am the Family Resource Coordinator for the families of McCornack.  I am here for you in times of need and can provide you guidance and resources.  Let me know if you have any questions.  I also have office ipads available for families who need assistance in accessing online forms, resources, etc.  You can make an appointment with me and I can help you navigate technology.

*The Family Resource Center is looking for donations of gently used sweatpants, joggers, and shorts for intermediate-size girls/boys. We need items in older sizes -  8 through 16.

Toys for Tots: The registration period for our 2024 Campaign opens October 1st, 2024 and will close November 15th, 2024. Please be sure to register as soon as possible, as we are unable to accept late registrations and walk-ins. All recipients must be registered online before the cut off.

Churchill Basketball Skills Clinic: November 16th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for boys and girls in grades 4-8.  Registration is $60.  Register at eugenehoops.com


Kidsports Winter Basketball: 

Registration Deadline for 1st thru 8th grade: Wednesday, Nov. 13th.

Registration Deadline for 9th thru 12th grade: Wednesday, Nov. 27th.

NEW: This is an earlier deadline than in the past, please register soon.

It is important to register by the deadline to guarantee your child a spot on a team.

NEW: Participants who register AFTER the league registration deadline will be added to the program WAITLIST. Waitlist registration is NOT a guarantee of placement, however Kidsports will attempt to place as many participants from the waitlist as possible for the purpose of filling open roster positions on league teams. Waitlisted participants who are eventually placed onto a team roster will be subject to a $10 late fee in addition to the standard league registration fee.

Eugene Youth Cheer: Due to popular demand, Eugene Youth Cheer is adding a cheer program for students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. Practices will start very soon, with competitions happening in January and February. Please visit this link for more information and details on how to sign up.


Upward Basketball Program by First Baptist Church: This K-1st grade league is open to everyone around the community! We love creating outlets for kids to grow their teamwork skills while having fun. We would love to see you become a part of it!


Our Upward season will run from December 9th to February 22nd in the FBC gym. There will be one practice (Monday Tuesday or Thursday at 5 or 6 pm) and one game a week (Saturdays at 9 10:30 or 12) for each team. 


Registration is $90. Each player will receive a jersey with an individual number game-day shorts a practice shirt and a celebration gift at the end of the season that includes a basketball wristband and other participation items.


If you have more than one player in your household playing in the league the second player cost will be $10 less (automatically reduced). If registering for the league is a financial hardship please contact Abbyj@fbceugene.com for a scholarship application.

Emerald Valley Youth Lacrosse: Free event on November 10th from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This National Celebrate Lacrosse Week Pick Up & Play clinic will be a great introduction to lacrosse for first-time players, 3rd-8th grade. Participants will experience a fun introduction to the sport and get connected to their local community's lacrosse organization. Equipment will be provided for use while at the event. Online Workshops to Support Parents and Caregivers:  

KITS at Home (KAH) online workshops are for families of children in pre-k through 1st grade (ages 4-6).  Join other parents and learn ways to help your child follow directions, cooperate, and build social skills, like sharing and handling big feelings.

Parenting Healthy Preteens (PHP)

PHP is an online series of workshops for parents of kids in  4th-6th grades (ages 9-12).  Join other parents and learn ways to support your preteen’s mental health, positive self-esteem, and success at home and school.

Lost and Found: The lost and found for clothing is located in front of the school by the office.  For items such as water bottles, hats, jewelry, etc., those items will be in the front office.


Monetary Donations to McCornack: Families and community members are welcome to make a donation to McCornack’s school fund. These funds will be used to provide supplies, special programming, events, and experiences for our students. We thank you for your continued support of McCornack Elementary. Click HERE to donate.
