Standard Response Protocol: The safety and security of your child are our top priority. McCornack, along with all 4J schools, is working with the "I Love You Guys" Foundation to follow Standard Response Protocol (SRP). For the next five weeks, we will use this Family Week at a Glance, to educate families about each response. Learn more about the Standard Response Protocol at https://iloveuguys.org/The-Standard-Response-Protocol.html
HOLD Protocol: There are situations that require students and staff to remain in their classrooms and keep a certain area clear (medical issue, hazard in hall, etc.). During a HOLD, students and teachers are to remain in their classroom or area, and learning/activities continue in that space. Students and staff outside of the building remain outside unless the administration directs otherwise.
Math and Reading Assessments/Intervention: Students scoring below the 40th percentile may be recommended, by the building-level team, to receive instructional interventions in reading. Students receiving interventions will have their progress monitored during regular intervals. At our school, all students receive 90 minutes of reading instruction and 70 minutes of instruction in the area of mathematics, each day. Parents/guardians will be notified if their child is recommended to receive additional reading instruction.
Library Corner: All classes have now had their first library checkout of the year! We've discussed library etiquette, how to care for our books, and practiced the checkout process. Please help your students continue to be responsible library patrons by finding a safe place to keep their books every week, so they'll always know exactly where they are! Setting a reminder to make sure their library books are in their backpack the morning of their library day is also a wonderful idea. Library days are as follows:
Monday: Hoffman, Montes, Mertz
Tuesday: Wagoner, Davies, Jaeger
Wednesday: Hartman/Haake, King
Thursday: Moore, Pettigrew
Friday: Hester/Hudson-Connor
Character focus for the month of September: Friendship - I treat others like I want to be treated. We work together as a team. The Bee Jamboree choices this month will be: Otter Pop Party vs. Extra Recess (students vote with kindness coins).
