On Track with Attendance: As we head into October, we wish to remind families of our goal: All students maintain 90% on-time daily attendance. By the end of October we will have had 37 school days. The goal is that your student(s) is here at least 34 total days. Please reach out to any trusted staff member if you need help supporting your child's attendance.
McCornack Mondays! We’re excited to start McCornack Mondays, a fun new tradition where students and staff are encouraged to wear their McCornack T-shirts every Monday. It’s a great way to build school spirit and celebrate being part of our McCornack community!
We’ll also be working with our PTO to get McCornack T-shirts for our kindergarten students as soon as possible, so our newest McCornack Bees can join in the fun!
McCornack 26-27 Site Council: The McCornack Site Council is an elected committee of staff and parents, primarily focused on school improvement efforts. It is a great opportunity for parents to gain a deeper understanding and share recommendations for our school improvement goals and activities to support student progress. Our Site Council will meet this year from 4-5 p.m. (in-person/virtual hybrid) on October 13th, February 9, & June 8th. Our meetings are open to the public, and we welcome parents, staff, and community members. Our minutes will be uploaded once they are approved. We have had 5 parents offer to serve this year in the 4 available seats on the Site Council. Parents, please click this link to elect the representatives.
Unicycle Club: Come and Join the Unicycle Club at McCornack! Practice begins October 12th.
Please visit this link for important information and to register for the Unicycle Club!

*Please remember to label ALL zip ups, hoodies, jackets, and coats.
Walk, Bike, and Carpool Buddies: We are aware that there may be families in need of help making sure their children get to school and home safely. There are members of our McCornack community interested in helping! Please fill out the form below if you can help or have a need. Big kids can help too! A community member will contact you if/when options become available. Many bees make the hive buzz! SURVEY LINK HERE
Kinder families only have a special opportunity to get free gifts, tips and support in walking, biking, busing, and rolling to school. 4J Safe Routes to School and the City of Eugene encourage students to practice healthy, fun and cost efficient ways of getting to school that make it safer for everyone! See this flyer (English / Spanish) for more information and sign up here!

LAST CALL! Eugene-Springfield Youth Orchestras - String Academy 1 at McCornack!: String Academy 1 is a fun way for 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders to learn violin, viola, cello, or bass. 2026-27 SA1-McCornack meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30-8:15 AM. Sign up TODAY!

Personal Items from Home: To help us keep learning as our main focus and prevent distractions in the classroom, toys, stuffed animals, fidgets, games, and other non-instructional items from home must stay at home. These items can often shift a student's attention away from lessons and activities, making it harder for them and their classmates to learn. If needed to support the individual need of a student, we will provide the item/tool at school. The only exceptions are when these items are specifically part of a classroom activity, reward, or project (i.e. classroom PJ and stuffy reward day).
ParentSquare:
The 4J School District uses ParentSquare as its primary form of school-to-home communication. This unified communication platform helps keep parents and guardians informed while fostering greater engagement and connection with their school and the 4J district.

School Supplies for the 2026/2027 School Year: For the 2026–27 school year, we are requesting a suggested donation of $35 per student. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. This covers nearly all of the supplies your student will need for the entire year! 😊
You can make your donation through our Supply Donation Link, or you may pay by cash or check in the front office.
Thank you for helping us make sure our students have everything they need for a successful school year! 💙
We are also seeking donations of the following items:
Large bottles of hand sanitizer
Kleenex
Wet wipes
Non-perishable snacks
We have created an Amazon Wish List with ongoing supply needs. Items can be ordered and shipped directly to McCornack 🙂 *We’ve already received donations through Amazon! A BIG, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed.
If your child is in need of a backpack, we have plenty in stock here at McCornack. Come by the office to pick one out!
Standard Response Protocol: The safety and security of your child are our top priority. McCornack, along with all 4J schools, is working with the "I Love You Guys" Foundation to follow Standard Response Protocol (SRP). We will teach and review the protocols during Safety Week (9/21-25) in classrooms. For the next five weeks, we will use this Family Week at a Glance, to educate families about each response. Learn more about the Standard Response Protocol at https://iloveuguys.org/The-Standard-Response-Protocol.html
LOCKDOWN Protocol: LOCKS, LIGHTS, OUT OF SIGHT - Lockdown is called when there is a threat or hazard inside the school building. From parental custody disputes to intruders to an active assailant, Lockdown uses class-room and school security actions to protect students and staff from the threat. At McCornack, we are careful not to confuse a SECURE or HOLD with a LOCKDOWN.
YMCA Before/After School Care: The YMCA offers before and after school care here
at McCornack. At this time, the McCornack programs are full, and if you are in need of
care, we encourage you to get on their waitlist. FOR MORE INFORMATION:
