The federal government remains shut down, but ODHS was able to issue full November SNAP benefits. People in Oregon who receive SNAP will see 100% of their November benefit amount beginning on November 7, 2025.


McCornack Parent/Family Handbook:  We strongly recommend families review and reference this handbook (Spanish) which is full of important information about McCornack.  Please click on this link once you have read/reviewed the Handbook.


Planned Absences of 3 or more days:  Submit pre-arranged absence form to McCornack’s office at least 2 days prior to the absence.

McCornack’s Free Little Pantry: McCornack has a free little food pantry donation program, sponsored by Valley Covenant Church. The pantry is open Monday through Friday from 3:15 p.m to 6:15 p.m. and is located near the front office at McCornack.  Please take what you need :-)  

*We are always looking for non-perishable items to keep our pantry stocked.  You can drop off donations at the front office. 


Jog-a-thon!:  This year’s McCornack Jog-a-thon is Thursday, November 13! Our goal is to raise $10,000!  Please reach out to relatives, friends, customers, bosses, anyone who loves our kids!

Pledge envelopes were sent home October 30th and 31st.

SIGN UP TO HELP - McCornack Jog-A-Thon

  • The McCornack Jog-a-thon is Thursday, November 13th

  • Money raised for this event goes directly back to our school to help fund field trips, buy library books and provide much needed classroom materials. 

  • To make this event run smoothly, we need as many helpers as possible.

Jog-A-Thon schedule: 

  • 1st:  8:40-9:15 a.m.

  • 2nd: 9:45-10:20 a.m.

  • 4th: 10:25-11:00 

  • 5th: 12:05-12:40 p.m. 

  • Kinder: 1:40-2:15 p.m.

  • 3rd: 2:00-2:35 p.m.


Ruby Bridges Walk to School: Students and families are invited to join us in our annual Ruby Bridges Walk to School on Friday, November 14th. We will meet in the parking lot of the church at 3500 W. 18th Ave. beginning at 7:30 a.m. At 7:45 we will walk west to Bailey Hill, then left on Westleigh. Finally we will walk through the playground behind McCornack. We hope to see you there! Students must be accompanied by an adult to participate. 


UO Women’s Basketball Game:  We have the opportunity to take our entire school to the University of Oregon on December 18th for an 11 a.m. basketball game.  As an extra special bonus, our Unicycle Team will be the halftime entertainment!  If you are interested in chaperoning, please complete this form.  All volunteers must be cleared through the 4j volunteer system in order to attend.  We recommend you apply to be a volunteer before 11/21 for this trip.


The itinerary is below:  

10:15 a.m.    Load busses at McCornack
10:30 a.m.    Depart for Matthew Knight Arena
11:00 a.m.    Game - University of Oregon vs. Portland
1:00 p.m.    Load busses at Matthew Knight Arena
1:15 p.m.    Depart for McCornack
1:35 p.m.    Arrive at McCornack


Parent/Guardian-Teacher Conferences: Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday, November 24 and Tuesday, November 25. Sign-ups will be managed through ParentSquare, and teachers will share specific scheduling information soon. Some teachers may also offer evening conference times during the week prior. Please keep an eye out for communication from your child’s teacher with further details.


PTO Corner: 

Meetings:  Our next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, December 2nd and we'd love to see you there.   To make it easier for everyone to attend, FREE dinner and childcare will be provided. 


Volunteers: We're also looking for volunteers to help bring our upcoming projects and events to life.  Whether it’s lending a hand at meetings, supporting fundraisers, popping popcorn, or helping in classrooms, every bit makes a difference.  Find more information, please review this flyer and visit our PTO page. Meal Kit Drives:  Dear McCornack Community,

Thank you so much for another successful meal kit drive! Our school community collected over 90 pounds of pancake mix and 800 ounces of maple syrup alone! We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support, thank you.

Thanks to an incredible outpouring of donations from our community, the Busy Bees PTO is able to provide meal kits to families on a first come, first served basis.  On Monday, November 10th (Wednesday, November 12th if sending home in student backpack) they will be providing pasta, pasta sauce, and parmesan cheese AND pancake mix, syrup, fruit.  Please use the above link to make your request by 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9th. We will confirm the availability of your meal kit via email Sunday evening.
