Daily Student Affirmation and Staff Pledge: Each day students say a daily affirmation and then teachers follow with our pledge. This is that affirmation & pledge for you to talk about with your child. This promise helps students to understand that we all believe in them and a way for them to affirm their role at McCornack and in the classroom!

McCornack Family JOY Event:  On SATURDAY, April 5th, from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., McCornack will be holding a Family JOY Event.  This event will directly serve our McCornack families free of charge. *Clothing ExchangeBring donations with you to the JOY event - freshly-washed, gently used clothing.  All sizes welcome! Clothing exchange will be held in the primary wing.

You are welcome to drop clothing donations off early on Saturday at the front office or at the Family Resource Center, located by our small playground.

Bike Repair at Family Joy Event, 12:00-2:00: McCornack Elementary School, in partnership with Safe Routes to School and Shift Community Cycles, will be holding a free Bike Repair on Saturday, April 5 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm as part of McCornack's Family Joy event. Get your bike ready for spring and summer! Bring your bicycle to the event sometime between noon to 2pm for free tune-ups and small repairs.

McCornack Expectations: This week, all students completed a refresher course in McCornack expectations. Students did 10-15 minute reviews in each area of the school to talk about how our school expectations of Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be a Caretaker apply in various settings around the building. Thanks for reinforcing the expectations at home so that we can do our best job here at school!


Family Connection Workshops: How can you get involved in our school community and support your student(s)?

PTO Corner: The PTO board meets the last Tuesday of every month. Anyone is welcome to join the board meetings anytime. If you are interested in volunteering for the Carnival, please contact your PTO president, Sydney Mills at Sydney_l@live.com 


POPCORN FRIDAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We need volunteers to pop popcorn on Friday, April 25th. If we don’t have people signed up by Thursday afternoon, April 24th, popcorn Friday will be canceled.

BottleDrop Fundraiser: 

Attention McCornack Families!


From Feb 21-Mar 21 April 22 (EARTH DAY) our school will be having a BottleDrop fundraiser! Please participate if possible.


You or your student can pick up bags for bottles at the main office or on service Saturday (April 5, during the JOY event).


You may drop off full bags before school from 7:30-8:30 and after school from 3:00-4:00 or on Saturday April 5th,  9am-3pm on service Saturday or during the JOY event.

School Transportation Survey: We Want to Hear From You!

In partnership with the City of Eugene, we’re asking all parents and guardians to take a few minutes to fill out a brief survey about your child’s daily commute to school. Your feedback will help us better understand transportation needs and improve options for all families. The survey is quick, confidential, and your responses will remain anonymous.

Do you or your child want to learn how to ride a bike? 

Join 4J Safe Routes to School and partners at either or both of these all-ages, free, learn to ride a bike events coming up. Helmets and bikes will be provided, or bring your own. 

  • Tuesday, April  29 from 5pm to 7pm at 4J Ed Center (200 North Monroe St, Eugene, OR)

Remember, these events are free and are for people of ALL AGES who do not yet know how to ride a bike!


Oregon Children’s Choir:  Sing with the Oregon Children’s Choir!

The Oregon Children’s Choir welcomes 1st-12th graders to come sing with us this spring or summer! Students will develop vocal skills, make new friends, boost confidence, and have fun! Choirs meet once per week with a concert on June 1. For even more fun, join us for a summer camp! Learn more at oregonchildrenschoir.org


Emerald Valley Ultimate Summer Camps, Ages 8+:

Ultimate Frisbee is an awesome team sport, similar to soccer, that helps get kids active and outside. It's particularly good for youth social emotional development because it is self refereed up to the highest level. Kids are taught empathy and conflict resolution skills from an early age to mediate disagreements on and off the field. **Pay what you can registration fees!!

Peachealth Play days for Grades 1st-5th: Kidsports is excited to offer our “PeaceHealth Play Days” throughout the school year for kids when schools are closed weekdays for administrative/grading/professional development days, etc.

The Kidsports Fieldhouse is the perfect place for your kids to spend the day being active and to arrive home happy and tired. Kids will experience an action-packed day of games such as Dodgeball, Kickball, Basketball, along with other activities like the popular GaGa Ball game, an Obstacle course, Pickleball…and much, much more!

Camp runs 9am to 3:00pm for grades 1-5. We have options for extended care in the morning (8:00am) and afternoon (4:00pm) for an additional fee. Kids should wear active clothing and gym shoes with non-marking soles, bring a water bottle and a lunch/snacks. No phones or smartwatches at camp. Sign up now, spots are limited.

For the extended care option to go from 8am-4pm, when registering, select the optional add-on of $15 at the check out screen.

Due to lack of space and to make for an environment more conducive to learning, spectators and parents are not able to attend these class sessions.

Monetary Donations to McCornack: Families and community members are welcome to make a donation to McCornack’s school fund. These funds will be used to provide supplies, special programming, events, and experiences for our students. We thank you for your continued support of McCornack Elementary. Click HERE to donate.

Pre-arranged absences of three or more days: The pre-arranged absence form for School District 4J is used to request an excused absence for a planned event, such as a family trip. The form is required for absences of three or more days, and must be completed and submitted in advance:

  • When to complete: At least one week before the absence

  • Where to get the form: Click HERE

Who to get approval from: The principal and the student's teachers. 

The form does not apply to emergencies, sickness, or authorized religious holidays. Absences due to illness that last more than five days require a doctor's note. Permission to be absent does not guarantee that the absence will be excused. Vacations are typically not considered excused absences
