Warm Hearts, Warm Homes

homesThe Holiday Season is upon us. This is a time for community, love, compassion and giving. For some of our families, this time of year can be very stressful. Some may be experiencing unemployment, illness, financial difficulties or other hardships. This year, McCornack is partnering with Eugene Kiwanis Foundation to organize: McCornack Has Heart: Warm Hearts, Warm Homes 2016 Holiday Drive. McCornack will confidentially coordinate the efforts of caring families to help relieve high heating costs of some of our McCornack families. All funds raised will go toward EWEB Heating Assistance for our families in need of help.

McCornack Has Heart is anonymous for all families who help and who receive. Ms. Brinda, our School Counselor will confidentially coordinate helping and receiving families on a first come first serve basis. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Brinda at 541-790-5800 or email her at: Narayan-wold_b@4j.lane.edu

If you would like to help, or you are in need of assistance this holiday, please click here to download our form and return it to Ms. Brinda by Monday, December 5, 2016 at 2:30 PM, 2016. McCornack will distribute funds directly to EWEB address accounts of families in need by Tuesday December 13, 2016. Helping families will provide what they can to help. Receiving families will receive a letter of the donated amount toward their heating costs.

A Great Start to the Year!

fall clipartDear McCornack Community,

What a great start to the school year!  This was the best start to a school year ever.  We are pulling together as a staff and community to look at attendance, achievement, and equity. We invite our parent community to join us in reading Between the World and Me by Ta-nehisi Coates, a father’s letter to his son about race and equity in today’s world.  It was a powerful book for me to read and was powerful for several staff who read it also.   Please send me an email if you are interested in joining a book group to discuss it or if you want to borrow a copy from our staff.

We are honored to have your students in our school each day and want to work with you to make the educational experience the best for each student.

My best to you and your family in 2016-2017,

Londa Rochholz, Principal
