A Great Start to the Year!

fall clipartDear McCornack Community,

What a great start to the school year!  This was the best start to a school year ever.  We are pulling together as a staff and community to look at attendance, achievement, and equity. We invite our parent community to join us in reading Between the World and Me by Ta-nehisi Coates, a father’s letter to his son about race and equity in today’s world.  It was a powerful book for me to read and was powerful for several staff who read it also.   Please send me an email if you are interested in joining a book group to discuss it or if you want to borrow a copy from our staff.

We are honored to have your students in our school each day and want to work with you to make the educational experience the best for each student.

My best to you and your family in 2016-2017,

Londa Rochholz, Principal

We’re Getting Ready!

The McCornack community is getting ready for the 2016-2017 school year! We are preparing, enrolling, cleaning, reading, and planning for a great year. Our staff worked this summer on Math plans — how to ensure students are fluent and flexible in Math.  This promises to be a year where students grow both academically and emotionally in strong ways.

My favorite part of summer was meeting my new nephew, Thomas. Seven pounds, eleven ounces of stretching, sleeping, eating cuteness.   I want great things for Thomas. I want him to grow and explore and love learning. He reminds me that we want that for all our students at McCornack. We want each one to grow, explore, learn, and love to come to school. We want to partner with our families to make sure this is the experience for every student at McCornack.

Attendance is a top priority for us this year also. Every minute counts! Here is our morning schedule:

7:25 a.m.—breakfast. Free for every student.
7:45 a.m.—Main doors open.
7:55 a.m.—Classes start.

Thank you for working together for the best year for your student.

Ms. Londa Rochholz, Principal

7:25 a.m.-desayuno. Libre para todos los estudiantes.
7:45 am-Main puertas abiertas.

Summer Challenge!

summer-sun-22Dear McCornack Community,

What a delightful spring of Summer Safety Night, the Carnival, field trips, and lots of culminating activities for the year.  It is fun to see the students bring their learning altogether at the end of the year.  Please keep your students reading, counting, and problem solving this summer!

I hope you have a fun and full summer.

Londa Rochholz, Principal

Londa Rochholz, Directora
